Usually faster than other Erlang/Elixir libraries. Poison benchmarks sometimes puts Poison's performance close to jiffy and IO list encoding and single-pass decoding. Several techniques that are known to benefit BeamAsm for JIT compilation, Poison uses extensive sub binary matching, a hand-rolled parser using Poison takes several approaches to be the fastest JSON library for Elixir. Without sacrificing simplicity, completeness, or correctness. Poison is a new JSON library for Elixir focusing on wicked-fast speed Make sure to keep following the discussion I mentioned before, things are probably going to change after it.Poison (Poison v5.0.0) View Source Poison It concerned us a bit when we’ve noticed that we couldn’t have more dynamic configs. This subject is very important if we’re going on production. It’s very important to mention, if you change those files, you’ll have to reboot your application. Otherwise, we would have to edit every option in the file. You’ve noticed where our special strings are in the sys.config, and if you guessed that this process can be done manually, you got it! But this replace really makes things easier for us. Instead of using System.get_env in our configs, we must use "$, I was chatting around Elixir Slack channel when our friend Ranelli mentioned that there was a simple technique that we could use to solve this when we build an Exrm release. But don’t be sad! There are already some mature discussions around this in the Exrm repo, take a look, you may be able to help! There’s a way when using Exrm release It works great and data won’t be fixed in the release, but it’s specific for this Phoenix config. Phoenix has a special way of configuring an HTTP port with ENV vars that evaluates it during runtime. If we’re working with Phoenix, there is an exception. This way, to build a release we’d need all our environment variables where we’re building it (our own machine or a build server). When we don’t have them, their value will be nil and we won’t be able to connect to our database, for example. Because of this, we need all of our environment variables to be exported during compiling. Our System.get_env() calls will be evaluated during the compilation, so the binaries will be generated with the current value of the ENV var. So everything is compiled, even our config files! Then, there’s an interesting behavior while compiling our config files. And in order to deploy or generate a release we need to compile our application. We all already know that Elixir is a compiled language. ENV vars need to be present during compile time However, things start to happen differently when we try to generate an Exrm release to deploy our app in production. So far this isn’t much different from what we do in other languages. In development this is useful because the developers won’t need to make changes on this file, they’ll just need to export these vars. This way you won’t expose your database configs and will actually make things more dynamic. We could configure our last example with this approach: # config/dev.exs In Elixir we do this easily with System.get_env("ENV_VAR"). To use it, we just need to have a configured variable and get it in our application. Let’s take an Ecto config as example: # config/dev.exsĪ well-known approach is using Environment variables to hide and scope these values through different environments. These files are generally used by frameworks and libraries, but they have already proven useful for using mocks in our tests. Some examples are: config.exs and environment config files ( dev.exs, test.exs and prod.exs). In an Elixir project, the config goes in Mix.Config files. Env vars are easy to change between deploys without changing any code unlike config files, there is little chance of them being checked into the code repo accidentally and unlike custom config files, or other config mechanisms such as Java System Properties, they are a language- and OS-agnostic standard. The twelve-factor app stores config in environment variables (often shortened to env vars or env). The 12-factor app manifesto explains it on its Configuration section: They’re being used for improvements mostly on maintainability. A way of doing this is by using ENV vars (environment variables). It’s very common (and highly recommended) that application keeps its configuration values separated from its version control. How to config environment variables with Elixir and Exrm May 17, 2016

Now you have the knowledge you need to generate your own random numbers in JavaScript like an expert!Īt Career Karma, our mission is to empower users to make confident decisions by providing a trustworthy and free directory of bootcamps and career resources. We also created a custom function that can be used to generate a random number between two values. In this tutorial, we explored the basics of the JavaScript Math library and discussed how to use the Math.random() method to generate a random number. Then, by using the Math.floor() function, we can generate larger numbers based on our needs. The Math.random() JavaScript function can be used to generate random numbers between 0 (inclusive) and 1 (exclusive). So, when we run our program, a random number between 100 and 200 is generated. Then, on the final line, we call our generateRandomNumber() function and pass it the values 100 and 200. On the next line, we use the Math.random() function to generate a random number, and our “max” and “min” variables to ensure the number we generate will be in our range. On the first line, we define a function called “generateRandomNumber().” Our function takes in two arguments: the minimum value and the maximum value of the range of numbers within which our random number should be generated. Let’s break down our program and explore how it works in more depth. Here’s an example of console.log() being used to print out a random number:Īs you can see, our program generates random numbers within the range of 100 and 200. The syntax for the Math.random() method is as follows: The Math.random() function returns a floating point pseudo-random number, which means it will include a decimal. The JavaScript Math.random() method returns a random number between 0 (inclusive) and 1 (exclusive). The Math object includes a number of other mathematical functions that can be used to work with numbers, but the main ones you need to know about to generate a JavaScript random number are Math.floor() and Math.random(). Here’s an example of the Math.round() function in action: Similarly, the Math.round() function can be used to round a number up to the nearest value. The number the Math.floor() function processed was rounded down, which is why our program returned “5” instead of “6.” Here’s an example of the Math.floor() method in action: This method can be used to deliver a value rounded downwards to the closest integer, or whole number. One of the most useful functions in the Math library - and one that we will use later in this tutorial - is the Math.floor() function. Here’s what the Math object looks like in a JavaScript program: The Math object works with the Number data type in JavaScript. These functions include returning the absolute value of a number, rounding a number, calculating the square root of a number, among others. The JavaScript Math object offers developers a number of mathematical functions which can be performed on numbers. In this tutorial, we are going to explore the basics of JavaScript random number generation, and discuss how you can use the Math.random() function in your code. The function returns a value between 0 (inclusive) and 1 (exclusive), but we can use another function called Math.floor() to turn our number into a whole random number. Math.random() is a built-in method that can be used to generate random numbers in JavaScript. That’s where the JavaScript Math.random() function comes in. We've observed this particular cause and effect in a jealous Amazon who is over-bonded to his male owner, and never fails to bite the owner's wife when given the opportunity. Displaced aggression means that the bird cannot perform the activity he would like to and is aggravated, which he displays by wiping his beak on another object. When done while alone, it usually indicates one of two things: the bird is trying to dislodge something stuck to his beak, or the beak wiping is a displacement agression activity. When done in the presence of another bird, it is usually an attempt to tell the other bird that it is intruding on personal territory. We've observed three separate reasons for this activity. This will often be heard after your bird settles in for the night, right before he drops off to sleep, and sometimes during sleep. It is usually a sign of a bird feeling secure and content. This is similar to the sound of a child grinding his teeth at night, and is a result of a bird scraping the lower mandible against the upper mandible. Approaching a bird exhibiting this behavior will most likely result in a nasty bite. Often accompanied by neck stretching and sometimes the raising of a foot, it is a signal that the bird is defending territory or possessions, and is trying to ward off the "intruder". Expected times are during the early morning hours when the sun rises, and at dusk when the sun is going down, but also occur anytime the bird is feeling especially exuberant and happy! Beaks Beak Clickingīeak clicking is a sharp, consistent "clicking" sound used when a bird feels threatened, or is protecting a particular object or space. These activities are usually indulged in when the bird is feeling safe, secure and content in his surroundings. This invitational behavior is most often seen in cockatiels and cockatoos. Rapid "clicking" of the tongue against the beak which generally means "I want to be friendly, I won't hurt you". Bird's body is usually relaxed and feathers are fluffed up. Very similar to the growling sound, but not usually accompanied by dilating pupils. In these cases it is best to retreat and wait for the bird to calm down before attempting any contact. It generally means that a bird does not want to be approached. GrowlingĪn indicator of aggression, growling is sometimes accompanied by dilating pupils and raised feathers on the back of the neck. This muted chatter is also heard when a bird is practicing speech words and phrases can sometimes be heard if you listen closely. Soft chattering is often how a parrot amuses itself, and is normally a sign that the parrot is feeling safe and content. It is believed to be an attempt to make their presence known to other birds, or possible to re-establish relationships among the flock. Loud chattering or crowing is usually heard at dusk, when bird(s) are settling down for the night. Vocalizations BarkingĮven in a household without dogs, some birds will "bark" in excitement, during a "chatter" session, or in an attempt to display their dominance over their cagemates or other birds in the household. Your bird may also be exhibiting this behavior in response to another bird, animal, or human in the vicinity that is disliked. If you persist in attempting contact, you may get a nasty bite for your trouble. In a bird that is exhibiting additional aggressive behaviors such as tail fanning, this behavior means "Back Off!". Pay close attention to other behaviors that accompany flashing/"pinning" pupils in order to correctly ascertain the reason for this particular behavior. Eyes Flashing/Dilating Pupilsįlashing, dilating pupils can be a sign of aggression, excitement, nervousness, or pleasure. If your bird exhibits any of the following behaviors, try to ascertain exactly what your feathered friend is trying to tell you, and respond (or refrain from responding) accordingly. While the actions of one particular bird or species do not necessarily mimic the meaning of the same action in all other birds, we have found there to be a general similarity in the actions and meaning of some basic avian behaviors. The ability to communicate is a vital element in any relationship, and it is of utmost importance that bird owners learn to interpret the meanings of their birds sounds and behaviors in order to successfully tame, train, and provide them with the very best of care. Using their body language and vocalizations they can "tell" us when they are happy, content, frightened, sick, hungry, tired, angry, or ready to be held and played with. Birds learn to communicate with us through sounds, behavior and actions. One of the most important aspects in creating and maintaining a successful relationship with an avian companion is the ability to understand your bird's vocalizations and body language. The kids slides were about 40 deep and the regular slides were 3 stories long. Lines to go on slides were unbelievable and the lazy river was so backed up you couldn't get on. There were about 100 kids at the dance party on a Sunday night. with the added rooms this place is packed all the time. The Dance party was very interactive and most attractions (magi quest and arcade) were easy to enjoy. We had done Kalahari and Camelback and the fact that GWL only allowed overnight guests meant the waterpark ran pretty smoothly. When we first started coming here this was very boutique. Water park: I'll get right to the problem. Kids typically have fun regardless of how terrible adults may think it is but as my kids get older thats beginning to change. Our family has probably been to this location about 10 times and 2 other locations elsewhere. Let me start out by saying nothing horrified me about GWL. I would come back for another sort vacation getaway though!… Again the lobby being the only way to the water park and other activities area, it is a bad design to attract larger crowds blocking stair access is not the best design. The lobby had lots of fun kid focused free options if you don't mind how crowded it gets. Everything ( mega quest, build a bear, mining, food and drinks) was on the pricey side but while this isn't a very big resort there is more activity option than just a water park. The youngest children are playing in the coldest area isn't the best design. That also would be were the toddler activities are. The coldest part of the water park was near the doors because it was a single set and Everytime they were opened heat escapes. There were not enough tables or just chairs for that matter. A woman in a motorized chair was struggling to get around without falling in a pool area. The pool area was cramped, very small walkways. The rooms were great with such comfy beds and pillows. There was a lot of kid friendly activities and staff was always around cleaning. The check in kiosks didn't work but staff was friendly and ready to help. There wasn't enough parking guests where just parking along the lanes blocking you to one lane to instead of the two. I have made four attempts to contact Great Wolf and have received no response from management as of this post.… I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that it was just the B squad on that day. I felt like I was in another country, speaking a different language from everyone who worked there and couldn’t get help if I tried. I didn’t even get to properly thank them because I was so beside myself at that point. She was eventually found by another guest and their family who joined the efforts. If it were not for the help from other guests, I don’t know how long it would’ve went on and if this would’ve had a happy ending. They didn’t even make an announcement amongst the staff members. There should’ve been a report of a missing three-year-old in character ( not water park issued) puddle jumper/life vest. I have no clue why this didn’t draw any suspicion to the lifeguard who is sitting at the top of the slide. It turns out she was on the loop of the highest slide in that place. This is a 3 year old non swimmer in an OVERCROWDED water park. The lifeguards were not even alerted to look for her. There are several exits and if someone had taken her she would be across state lines before any reaction. I eventually told them they need to close the doors or I’m calling 911. Meanwhile, the security team still was coming up to me asking who ”HE” was and what “HE” looked like. I was showing her picture to other guests. I was circling the park, screaming her name and her description and guests were helping in the search. They were not communicating with each other. What’s her name and what was she wearing? Over and over again. 15 minutes into the search I was still having security team coming up to me and asking what she looks like. They were still allowing families in it out of the park while I was frantic and begging them to close the doors. I alerted security and it was clear they had no plan in place of how to handle it. Obviously I’m aware this my fault, but I think people should know how poor the response from the staff was. My 3 year old daughter went missing in the water park for 30 minutes.

If protected with a watermark, the eBook can be read on all e-readers, tablets, smartphones, and computers and does not need specific apps to be opened, exactly as if it wasn't protected (see reading apps recommended in the previous paragraph). The watermark is visible on the last page of the ebook but is also inserted and hidden on every page. This is how it works: the name and/or email of the owner of the book (or other information) will be inserted in the book so that if the copy is dispersed online, it can be traced back to those who made it available online for free. The watermark, also called soft DRM, is a form of non-invasive protection. Like those without protection, this type of ebook can be read without limitations, on any device.
